  1. HEPA is a good brand however any air filter that kicks up and stirs up the allergens in the air won’t be as good as an ionizng system that demagnitizes the particles in the air so they simply fall on the floor and can then be vacuumed up. These systems leave your inside air clean and mountain fresh and they also aren’t noisy and don’t require replacing expensive filters. Instead you just open up the units and wipe them clean when they start to hiss. Do searches for Air Ionizers. I have personally used a Sharper Image one and another one I have now I got at Best Buy that is the Ionic Pro Turbo which works great.

  2. If your thinking hepa….check the cost and frequency of replacement filters, expense seems to be most folks deciding factor.

A more complete, less expensive alternative would an electronic filter installed on the return side of your duct work.

Pull the cells every couple of months and drop them in your dishwasher, good as new.

  3. It can quite daunting to choose an air purifier. Check out the links below for a list of things to look out for when purchasing one. One thing to note is that no one air purifying technology is perfect. That’s why most air filters use more than one technology to do the job.

There’s also budget, room size and ongoing maintenance cost to take into consideration. The bigger the room, the more powerful (and usually bigger) air purifier you need to get. Hope this helps.
