What is the best air purifier to remove cigarette smoke?

  1. Some air purifiers are well, junk and some work very well. Check out "Consumer Reports" magazine website and see if you can determine which one fits your needs.

Ask your apt. manager about this first - it’s possible that your neighbor IS violating the conditions of his lease.

He should be the one purifying his air, but that probably will not happen.

If you live in California, you DO have rights, as California did pass laws several years ago that basically say that you can’t smoke on your own premises IF your smoke bothers your neighbors.

ANyways, talk to your neighbor, explain that you or your wife has allergies. Maybe he will volunteer to get you an air cleaner or help buy one. Be open for compromise.

If he’s just a jerk about it, then file a complaint with management and take it from there. YOU should not be the one ‘forced to move’.

You’ll want some sort of ionizer and filter that will keep your air fairly particulate free. If you keep your windows closed and you STILL smell smoke, there’s a ventilation problem that needs to be fixed first.

  3. The Ionic Breeze, available by Sharper Image, is great!

I dealt with an ex husband that would smoke out the window but still feel the house with smoke.

The Ionic Breeze would clean the air quickly and remove the odor.

Good luck…how horrible to have to deal with someone else’s bad habit!

  6. I think you should skip the purifier and go straight to talk to him. I would rather have some guy mad at me then getting second hand lung cancer.

  7. Tell the idiot it’s okay for him to smoke, just don’t exhale!
And HE should have to buy the air purifier, not you.
Talk to your apartment manager about it.
If the smoke keeps coming into your apartment after that, call your lawyer.
He is damaging YOUR health by his stinking smoke.

  8. As in Hindu temples, put "Sambrani" dhoop continuesly each day for few minutes. In a week’s time you will get rid of the cigarette smell.
