What’s better an air purifier or a humidifier?
I have very bad sinu and allergies. Which one would be better to buy to put on while I sleep.

I have a problem with a poorly ventilated room inside my house and whenever I sleep in it I wake up a little suffocated. Apart from this, cold weather is on its way so I won’t be able to sleep with its windows open.
So the question is would an air purifier solve my problem? And if not, is there any other device that would?
I have heard that people can have a better nights sleep by haveing an air pureifier in your room.. has anyone actually had luck with this?
My Mother-in-law has a boyfrined who has major OCD, it’s to the point where its not only effecting his life in negative ways but it’s also effecting her life. She is so wrapped up in not upsetting him and trying to make sure things are exactly the way he needs them to be that her world is getting smaller and smaller and it’s effected her relationship with her children and her grandchildren.
Her boyfriend’s OCD manifests it’s self in the form of obsessing over his cars, servicing his 3 cars and my mother-in-law’s car over and over again. He compulsively has to check the cars during the day and even in the middle of the night, it’s to the point that he can not hold down a job. He is also obsessed with germs, and conspiracy theories about the following: Mad Cow disease, chemical warfare, GMOs, and Bacteria created by the government. (super germs) This has gotten to the point that he will not eat my cooking because he believes I have too much red meat in my diet and therefore have Madcow disease.
Sadly all of the above has made my mother-in-law’s life hard, on her birthday we tried to go out for a "ladies nightout" thing and he called her every 15mins reminding her to use had sanitizer and use only paper and plastic cups because glasses at bars can be contaminated.
After that night he made her sleep on an air mattress for 4 weeks because he thought she might have brought something home, the problem is she goes along with it, and she does this all the time.
What is the best way to go about an intervention for her, how can we help her get out of this relationship and heal so that she does not get into another just like it? Please provide links if you can, thanks!
She has come to us for help, and she had confided in us that she feels trapped and she even left once but she feels guilty and always goes back.
I agree therapy is needed
We have someone in our house that smokes constantly. The air is always thick with it and she will not go outside or respect us (who do not smoke) in any way by cutting back or going outside. Actually if she did go outside she may never come in except to maybe go to the bathroom or sleep. That’s how much she smokes.
She has no intentions of quitting and has been quite vocal that she "will not quit simply because you want me to!" <== her words almost exactly.
So we’ve given in and decided that the best thing for our health is to try to buy an expensive air purifier/filter. But which one will help the best and take in and filter as much smoke as she puts out?
Edit details:
Home is a single floor home with an open-floor design. No matter where you go the smoke permates throughout…eventually.
Edit 2: It’s not so much that she doesn’t know. She honestly just doesn’t CARE.
heyZ~
I’ve got a dog and I’m suffering from asthma real bad. It’s really hard for me to breathe at night so i can’t sleep. I was wondering if anybody knows a air purifier that could get rid of dog fur in the air effectively
Thanks~!
I don’t sleep with my dog~
I could be completely clueless, so hear me out lol. yesterday i smoked marijuana for my third time and i right before i went to sleep my hands were really itchy, like really bad between my fingers but mostly on the tops of my hands. I was wondering if this had to do with marijuana? I have alotttt of allergies.. food, detergents, air born irritants, you name it. However, at my workplace.. there’s sanitizer in the water that i wash my hands with (i’ve been working there for a while and it usually causes my knuckles to get red but nothing like this!) so I thought this was what caused it. (ps: i haven’t worked in about 2 or 3 days) So today I went to a pharmacist and he gave me some cream that relieved the redness and itching for about an 2 hours but it keeps coming back.. now my feet are broken out so i guess that rules out the water at work? theres been no real changes in my diet or detergents or anything and i don’t recall this happening the last time i did marijuana. so any suggestions? excuse my poor grammar as well, im in no mood to be proper lol
Some details:
I’m a chronic allergy sufferer, in my 20s, and I finally went on Amazon and bought one of Honeywell’s affordable HEPA air filters. It comes with an "Ionizer" feature, which I didn’t know too much about, so I went on Yahoo! answers and the web to research.
Now I know that it ionizes air particles so they a) drop to the ground and/or b) become easier for the air filter to pick up. Seems like a good feature to me. Although, some internet sources suggested that ionizers could be useless and/or potentially harmful.
Either way, if I now want to use my "Ionizer" feature, should I be leaving it on all the time? I already leave the HEPA on all the time, set on the lowest setting (anything louder would be unbearable when I sleep, but the lowest setting is just about right).
Thanks for any information.

in my feng shui book, it says "no ionizer" "no purifier" for the bedroom (and I am assuming this would be the same for the whole house).
the only thing that i can figure is that it sends negatively charged ionized air into the room, so that’s bad chi? or is it because it’s too "yang" with the motor and blowing air and so forth.
i have an ionizer/air purifier, i spent probably 0 on it and yes it’s in the bedroom. i don’t want to get rid of it, can i use it in any other room of the house? or should i really get rid of it? or was my book wrong about that?
i don’t need it for smoke or anything severe. but i live in a construction zone right now so it helps alot. i’ll be moving in two months and not in a construction zone, so i don’t anticipate really needing it, but it is soothing to sleep with the white noise and the air is fresher.
sorry for the long long question.
thanks!
My daughter has allergies and needs an air purifier for her room. We’re staying with friends right now and they have a tower fan they are using in her room and she’s never slept better with the white noise. But looking up "tower fan HEPA purifiers" online, all of them brag they are "whisper quiet." The white noise is half the benefit…does anyone know of a good HEPA tower fan that will still have that gentle fan white noise to help my baby sleep?
