Can metal doorknobs make your hands smell weird?
I’ve noticed after living in an old apartment for a while that after going in and out of rooms and grabbing the old brass or copper doorknobs my hands have almost a sulfuric smell to them. It’s really annoying and it leaves me washing my hands every 20-30 minutes because I can’t stand it. I’ve tried everything to try and get the "smell" off the doorknobs: Clorox Anywhere spray, Lysol Sanitizing spray, hand sanitizer even plain old air freshener and all it does it make the sulfur-like smell a little fruitier.
Why are the doorknobs making my hands smell weird and what can I do to make them stop?
