This morning the sun was shining in just right and I saw a lot of particles floating in the air and now I’m really disturbed about this. I am wondering what is the best way to get cleaner indoor air quality at home? We already have the normal filter that every house has for the air conditioner and heater, but I’m thinking I should have something more and wondering if I should buy an air purifier filter? I see some air filters are HEPA and some are not. Is there a difference? Is one better than the other? I read somewhere that someone bought a home air filter and the room started having a weird smell, is that normal?

and the masks we bought you can still smell the smoke through the mask. We also have two air filters in the bedroom but they don’t really work as well as I would like them to. He knows he should stop smoking but he has tried and it didn’t work out.
PLEASE stop the " tell him to go outside" it is below zero here. I want info on air filters/ purifiers and face masks only.
Again stop with the lessons, I do not want a lesson, if I did I would have asked for a lesson. Everyone has an addiction have t be smoking, coffee, pop, sex, internet, tv or even drinking. So please stop " being a teacher" and give me the answers I was looking for and not a speach.
i’ve got allergies and so does my daughter. every morning, we wake up with a runny nose. if we stay in the room too long, it gets worse. our room is on the 2nd floor and by the main road. it’s noisy and dusty outside. we use an airconditioner but living here in a philippine city, means living in a dusty city. moving out is a big step that we might not be able to take. any suggestions? i’m thinking of getting an air filter.do air filters like bionaire really work? what’s the difference between air ionizer and air filter? what else can i do?
Whenever I get home, I love to open up all of the windows to let in fresh air. Whenever my hubby gets home, he closes everything and turns on the air filters (with ionizers) that we have in each room. I feel like I get a headache and stuffed up nose with them on all the time. He thinks I’m crazy. I would like to know what is better for us to breathe.
So my girlfriend has two cats that are driving my allergies nuts. I’ve seen the ads for air purifiers that are suppost to help this kind of thing, but I’m kind of sceptical about shelling out 0 for an air filter without a fan.
So anyway, has anyone with pet allergies tried one of these new fangled HEPA/Ionized Air filters, do they work well on cat allergies? and is there a type or brand that you’d recommend?
Any other tips on treating cat allergies?
I was wondering how a HEPA air filter works (not down at the molecular level but if you’re supposed to plug it in somewhere and let it work it’s magic). Also if you need to buy replacement filters or if you just need to clean it every couple of days and etc.
I would like to know the same about Oreck air filters or any others…I don’t want to buy an air purifier that requires me to constantly purchase new air filters and etc.
What should I look for in an air purifier? What does ionized do? I see different type of air filters and has different features. I see some with ionized and others are not, some HEFA filter, some not. What should I look for, I greatly appreciate it!
I understand the process of common houshold air filters using an ionizer to emit ions into a room to bond with particles in the air causing them to fall and no longer be in the air. But what mechanism (mechanial, elctromagnetic, etc.) is used to propell the ions into the room. Are different sizes of the device used for different sized rooms? Any other info would be interesting.

Thanks for the response. I'm not looking to remove any odors. I just use an room air filter that has an ionizer that doesn't require the fan to be in operation for it to work. It made me wonder how does an ionizer emit ions then.
How long do air filters for air purifiers last?
Like for a HEPA or non HEPA or what?
I heard they can last a year or more.
Does it matter how big the air purifier is?
