I would say definitely get rid of the pet dander around your home by a good thorough vacuuming for sure. Yes, I use a good air purifier and it can help a bunch.

well i got a cat many years ago. my dad was really badly allergic but within about a year he was fine! he isnt allergic anymore and niether is my brother!! so they might get over it!

get a pic of a dog. why would you bring an animal into a home where there is known pet allergies???? you need to get your own place so that you can be selfish on your own.

Well you will need to vacuum the place up too. The Hepa filter will help though. Allergies need clean clean clean.

All those things will help, but can’t totally eliminate the problem. All creatures, people included, shed skin cells (dander) all the time. There isn’t anything you do to stop it from happening.

It will help, but it wont completely eliminate the dander. My boyfriend lives in a 1-bedroom apartment with 1 cat. I have a moderate allergy to cats.. enough that I cannot be in his apartment without taking allergy medication. He got a similar filter and I can now sometimes be there without meds, but if the cat rubs up against me, has laid in the same spot I sit, etc, I still end up needing to take medicine. If there allergies are severe, an air filter will likely not be enough to keep them feeling good.

They will still get allergies. You can’t completely illiminate the dander. It will help, but you cannot guarantee anything. But it all depends on the breed of the dog and how severe your Father and Grandfather’s allergies are. Hope I helped!

The more you bathe/shampoo the dog the more dander he will create. This is a never ending cycle. The wipes work much better to control dander (that is what I use and I am allergic also–have a huge bullmastiff that lives indoors too). I personally have not tried the HEPA air purifiers, but my parents swear by them and have one in their bedroom and their living room. I also take daily allergy medicine to keep symtoms down. Hope this helps.

Do you live with them, or are these precautions for when they come to visit. If you live with them, I would say just forego getting the dog altogether because you’re going to make the dog miserable. You could get a poodle since they don’t have the shedding issues. If all this is just for them to come for a visit, then I would suggest they just keep some Claritin handy for when they come over.

No dear…it will cut down on the dander but it’s not going to get rid of it. Dander is similar to our skin cells and it always there. Lots of bathing can sometimes aggravate it (dry skin flaking off).

Why not have them try, if medically possible, some OTC allergy meds or even a prescription. Or, if your heart is set on owning a dog, try one that has almost no dander, like Pekingnese. They have long hair but almost no dander. A lot of people who have dog allergies choose dogs who are known to have low dander. (It’s no the hair that people are allergic to, it’s the actual dander, or dead skin cells.)
