My son looked like he had raw hamburger on his body for a long while. He too was allergic to many things ie mold, dog hair, carpeting, dryer sheets. He could touch the carpet with bare skin and start breaking out in a horrible rash. We gave him cool oatmeal baths when he had been exposed to something we knew would be a problem. Then put a shea butter cream on him to keep his skin soft and not so flaky. In the morning he got a cool bath and then a beeswax, olive oil combination on him where he usually broke out the most (wrists, behind the knees, neck).
We cut out milk products for a long while, apparently in some people it can supress the immune system a bit. We figured he was having a hard enough time fighting off the constant rash why add one more thing to it.
On top of flax seed (I'm impressed you got him to eat it!) We started eating more tuna and salmon.
We never used Benadryl or the Dr reccommended topical steriod creams. We found out that it was going to probably make him worse in the long run. So we found another Dr who understood what we were trying to do, he helped us monitor him.
The lady who made the olive oil beeswax cake: The Beekeeper's Secret PO BOX 806 Medina WA 98039
The Shea butter cream: www.midanierbe.it
I'd like to give thanks to my mom for finding and buying those things for my son. It was terrible seeing him that way and now his body has had a chance to fight it off. He still has the very rare breakout but nothing like it was before. He turns 5 in December and is looking to go to school as well. Good luck to you both!

PS The Shea butter cream is high concentration and works great on burns. The Beekeeper's Secret works great around the eyes to get rid of baggy spots.
