I don’t know what this particular odor is. However, ozone is a toxic gas, and exotic birds are much more sensitive to pollutants than humans. I would switch to a HEPA-based air cleaner (which would remove particulates) or a unit that also has a carbon filter (which hits the gasses). It will remove dust and dander from the birds, and protect the birds from pollutants.
