How do ozone air purifiers work? please help!?

  1. Ozone is an unstable, reactive form of oxygen. The oxygen that we breathe is O2. Ozone is O3. O3 will lose a very reactive oxygen atom (O). Thie is also called an oxygen radical.

    These radicals will combine with organic molecules and break them down into less toxic materials such as CO2 and H2O.

    Unfortunately, ozone in high enough concentration can be hazardous to your health. Air filters and electrostatic air purifiers are much safer and do just as good a job.

    One interesting thing is that ozone gives air a "fresh" smell like the smell it gives the air after a lightening storm.
