Make sure and sweep you couch and chairs would be surprised how much they trap. Also you can put fabric softener under your air vents, just make sure you leave extra so it would go down into the vent. It also makes the home smell fresh for a few days. good luck.

Frequent vacuuming is the very best thing you can do. You really can't vacuum too often. That includes upholstered furniture and curtains. Mattresses are also sources of dust. If you use a waterproof mattress protector and wash it ever so often it keeps the dust mites from breeding in your bed which causes dust. Also wash pillows for the same reason. Any soft surface that our skin cells slough off on breeds dust mites and if not cleaned they will really proliferate. Using Fabreeze allergen reducer on your upholstered sofas and chairs helps as well and it smells good as opposed to regular Fabreeze which I think smells like old ladies.I know you said you change your filters but sometimes that's not enough especially in older homes. The duct work can become pretty nasty. We have electrostatic filters on our unit and we have new duct work but I'm not saying you have to go that far but you may want to have your ducts cleaned. We recently removed all the carpet down stairs and I can tell how much dustier it is up stairs than down stairs (we still have carpet upstairs).

Household dust is a never ending battle, however I find that using a damp micro-fibre duster helps cut down

Some ideas for you. Make your home a take your shoes off at the door home if you don't already. Well over 80% of the dirt that comes in our homes is carried in from outside.

Use microfiber cloths to dust with, they trap the dirt better than anything else. If you dampen them with water and wring them out well, they collect even more dust and when you rinse them the dust is going down the drain and out of your house. Nearly any item in our households is safely wiped down with one of these. You don't need a dusting spray, all they are is more chemicals and more money.

And last, check your vacuum. It is working properly? Are the filters clean? Is the machine belching dust and dirt back into the air? If your sweeper is more than a few years old, it just might be the culprit. Technology has changes a lot in vacuums in the last few years. Look for a model with sealed HEPA filtration and washable removable filters. Bags or bag less is a personal decision in my opinion. I like bag less, it's one less thing to buy!

In order for an air filter or ionizer to have much effect, you'd have to buy several or a large one and that can get pretty pricey. And make sure you're using good furnace filters, the cheaper ones just don't gather or trap the smaller particles of dust as well.

Always make sure you dust ceiling fans that are throughout your whole house. The dust can fall and make everything else dusty. To reduce dust, try and always clean it when you see it so it doesn't build up.

I love my ionizers (I have 2 of them). But, to be honest, they probably do nothing to reduce the amount of dust. However, I have clean dust! Ionizers pull the impurities from the air and trap them on the collection bars. I did notice that after using my ionizers a little while that I had white dust.

To minimize your dust, there's a few things you can do. If you open your windows regularly, make sure your screens are in good repair and try hanging sheer panels on the windows.

Properly mat every entrance to the house and that will reduce the amount of dirt that is tracked in by as much as 90%.

Use microfiber cloths for dusting (they trap and hold the dust until they're washed).

And finally, vacuum regularly.
